Writing a statement of purpose as an event medical provider
What an event medical provider's CQC statement of purpose must say: regulated activities, service types, the people you serve, events and location.
Your statement of purpose is a legal document that tells CQC what your service is and how it works. CQC compares it with your application, your policies and your interview answers, so it must describe the service you really run.
What it should set out
- Your regulated activities: TDDI, and transport services, triage and medical advice provided remotely if you take people beyond the event boundary.
- Your service types and the clinical roles you deploy.
- The people you serve: event participants, spectators, crew and staff, including children where relevant.
- The events and areas you cover, and how you decide the level of cover for each one.
- Your registered location: usually the base you manage the service from, not each event.
- Your registered manager and nominated individual, and how the service is led.
Keep it short, specific and true
The most common cause of delay is a statement of purpose that does not match the rest of the application. Write it after you have built the service, not before, and update it whenever the service changes.
