Assure Advisory

CQC registration for event healthcare providers.

Event medical services in England that treat people using paramedics, nurses or doctors must be registered with CQC by 6 December 2027. Apply by 1 March 2027 to be confident of a decision in time. We help you work out whether you are in scope, then get a complete, consistent application in early.

Who it is for

For event medical, festival, sports and first aid providers.

The 2026 change to the regulations removed the exceptions that kept event healthcare out of CQC regulation. If your team includes paramedics, nurses or doctors who use their clinical skills at events, your service is very likely in scope, even if you describe it as first aid.

We support event medical companies, independent ambulance services that cover events, festival and sports medical teams, governing bodies and first aid providers that deploy clinicians, whether you are registering for the first time or adding event work to an existing registration.

Assure Advisory is paramedic-led, so we understand pre-hospital care and how CQC assesses it.

Key dates

What is included

Everything CQC will look for, in place before you apply.

  • Scope review. We map each service you provide against CQC's first aid description and the TDDI criteria, event by event, and write down the decision and the reasons.
  • Provider set-up. The legal entity, nominated individual, registered manager, locations, and whether you also need transport services.
  • Statement of purpose. Written to match how your service really works across every event you cover.
  • Policies for event work. Clinical governance, medicines, safeguarding at events, infection prevention, records, incidents, consent, complaints and duty of candour.
  • Staffing and competence. Safer recruitment, professional registration checks, scope of practice and competency sign-off for employed and freelance clinicians.
  • Readiness review and interview practice. A full check before you apply, then practice interviews for your registered manager and nominated individual.

What you receive

  • A written scope decision for your services
  • Regulated activity and location advice
  • Statement of purpose, written for your service
  • Policy and governance framework for event work
  • Staffing, recruitment and competency review
  • Interview preparation and a readiness review
Already registered?

Bring your event work into your registration.

If you already hold registration for treatment of disease, disorder or injury, you don't need to apply again. You may still need to add locations or transport services, update your statement of purpose and bring your event work into your governance. We review your registration and close the gaps before CQC starts assessing event services.

Common questions

Do event medical providers need to register with CQC?

Yes, if they provide treatment by or under the supervision of a paramedic, nurse, doctor or other listed healthcare professional. CQC enforces from 6 December 2027. Read our guide to CQC registration for event medical providers.

Is first aid at events regulated?

Not if it is genuinely first aid. It becomes regulated when a listed professional uses their clinical skills or judgement, for example to diagnose, interpret an ECG, give prescription-only medicines or use a patient group direction.

When should we apply?

Now. CQC will take all reasonable steps to decide complete applications received by 1 March 2027 on or before 6 December 2027.

We are already registered with CQC. Do we need to do anything?

You don't need to apply again if you already hold registration for treatment of disease, disorder or injury, but you may need to add locations or transport services and update your statement of purpose. We can review your registration for you.

Do you work outside Devon?

Yes. We support event healthcare providers anywhere in England, on site in the South West and remotely elsewhere.
